History of our Firm
The firm was founded by Don Logan and Bill Hall on 1st July, 1972 with offices in Swan Hill, Numurkah and Cobram. The practice commenced using a Linton Computer; the first computer installed in Swan Hill! It had a drum memory and used paper tape as a storage medium and at that time we were one of the only rural based accounting firms in Victoria to have their own “computer”. A lot has changed since then and we have seen a constant growth in the size and capabilities of information technology. We currently have MYOB accounting and practice management software with the latest server and networked workstations, a far cry from the early days.
Bill Hall retired from the practice in 1978 and the Cobram Office was sold at that time. In 1984 the firm moved to Beveridge Street and acquired the practice of Hancock Woodward & Hollick and admitted Gary Tomamichel as a partner.
In July 2006 with Don looking to wind down and Andrew Gilchrist keen to become a partner, Logan and Hall became a company with Don Logan ceasing to be a partner in July 2007. Don continues to be a working associate of the practice whose knowledge and experience is a valuable resource.
Back to the Future!
The original Swan Hill practice operated out of the Australian Estates (which became DSM Estates and then Elders) building in McCallum Street and in 1999 we moved back to the original 22 McCallum Street premises. We still have people call in and ask where the Elders building has moved to – even after all these years!!
Logan & Hall continues after 35 years as Swan Hill’s premier accounting practice to offer our clients an extensive knowledge of taxation, accounting and business matters including social security, auditing, corporate secretarial, computer software and financial advice.
